Vane wheel anemometer for measuring the flow rate of gases / liquids

Measurement is based on a vane wheel rotating at a speed proportional to the flow velocity of the fluid which surrounds it. The rotational speed is virtually independent of density, pressure and temperature of the medium. Vane wheel anemometers can be used in gases and liquids.

Sensing the vane wheel rotation is by a proximity switch which has no braking effect on the vane wheel flow meter. A further proximity switch allows sensing of rotational direction and with it recognition of the +/-direction of flow. Contamination does not influence pulse recognition.

Thanks to the lightness of the vane wheel, the rotation speed adjusts to velocity increases in milliseconds in gases and liquids, thus ensuring precise measuring of the flow velocity.

Vane wheel flow meters can be adjusted and calibrated at the same frequency, so that flow sensors of the same type are interchangeable without restriction.

An advantage compared to other measuring methods, is the application in fluids with varying gas compositions. Our vane wheel anemometers are suitable for measuring the flow velocity and flow rate of liquids, not just in pipelines, but also in open channels and sluices. They can also be used for flow rate measurement in water, clarified waste water, streams, rivers and lakes; for measurement of flow in all industrial sectors, including municipal facilities and public authorities; flow velocity measuring of exhaust gas, explosive process gases (ATEX) and even in aggressive media with working temperatures of up to 550 °C. Over the last decades, these flow rate measuring instruments have proved their value for measuring laminar flow in the pharmaceutical industry, sterilizing tunnels and clean-room technology.  Aerodynamic testing for the automobile and aeronautical industries as well as measuring and regulating flow in air condition and ventilation plants are yet further applications which augment the Höntzsch application profile.

Vane wheel measuring sensors accurately detect even very slight, bidirectional flow velocities. The measured data is recorded, monitored and evaluated per laptop, so that consumption and leakage in drinking water systems can be rapidly identified.
