Congratulations!

We congratulate our colleague Arne Taube on the successful completion of his PhD in July this year. As a graduate engineer working in our calibration centre, he earned his doctor title at the Institute of Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics, Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. His thesis "A High-Order Discontinuous Galerkin Scheme for Aerodynamic Applications in Industry" deals with efficiency analysis based on a method of direct numerical simulation of high-efficiency flows.

Höntzsch sets new standards with its flowtherm NT!

The beginning of 2011 saw the launch of an exciting new product at Höntzsch GmbH - the flowtherm NT- a multifunctional hand-held unit with data logger for measuring flow rate, flow velocity, temperature, pressure and many other variables. A number of special features render the flowtherm NT user-friendly with a wide range of applications, due to the diversity of the connectable sensors (vane wheel, vortex, thermal, Pt100 and other sensors with analog output). Measuring can be carried out and displayed with up to three sensors simultaneously. The data logger allows up to 40,000 values with date and time to be saved. In addition, up to 100 different profiles for user or measuring point can be stored and ...

Solar plant

Since 30th June 2010 Höntzsch GmbH has been producing its own electricity. Höntzsch has installed a solar power plant on the roof of the building, where 350 solar cells now provide almost the whole energy required for the production of flow sensors. Due to the solar plant, with a forecast annual output of 29,155 kWh, over 20 tonnes of CO2 are saved each year.

Campaign for World MS Day on 26.05.10

The daughter of our colleague Julie Faust suffers from the incurable disease Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  Höntzsch employees were encouraged on the occasion of World MS Day to donate towards further research into this debilitating illness. Julie has launched a special campaign to raise awareness of MS and to draw special attention to the needs of MS sufferers.  So far more than 1200 Euro has been raised! Vortex sensors for CO2 applications

Optimisation of the signal adjustment means that using vortex sensors in carbon dioxide, CO2, is now possible. Carbon dioxide has a wide range of technical applications, for instance, in the extraction of urea, for carbonisation in the beverage industry and as an expanding agent. Höntzsch measuring technology also offers highest precision and cost effectiveness in this field of applications.

Vane wheel sensors - ideal for applications in hydrogen

Vane wheel sensors have demonstrated their proficiency in a multitude of demanding applications in conjunction with hydrogen. The gas compositions often change at short notice and the pipelines are filled for neutralisation purposes with inert gases such as argon, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. To eliminate a potentially explosive atmosphere the accurate flow rate is to be determined irrespective of the actual gas composition. Flow rate measuring with Höntzsch vane wheel sensors is possible in a wide range of applications irrespective of density, pressure and temperature.

ATEX Category 3D

A large number of Höntzsch products are now available with ATEX Category 3D Certification ('Dust-Ex').

Testing Höntzsch vortex VA and vane wheel FA flow sensors within the framework of CEN TC 264

On behalf of the European Commission, a working group was set up with the objective to define a European Standard determining how velocity and volumetric flows in stack gas in large combustion plants could be measured accurately, reliably and with long-term stability. Höntzsch GmbH is a member of the CEN TC 264 WG23 (Working Group) and also takes part in practical trials of equipment for stationary and portable applications under real conditions. Detailed wind tunnel trials at the Technischen Universität Berlin (TUB) have been successfully completed.

SIL Certification for vortex VA flow sensors

The Safety Integrity Level (SIL) evaluates functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety related systems. Vortex insertion probes VA40 and measuring tubes VA Di with integrated transducers are SIL 2 certified. Höntzsch instruments guarantee increased system reliability and production quality.
