To satisfy the ever-increasing demands on the accuracy and application range of our flow sensors, it is necessary to subject our calibration technology to the same degree of continuous enhancement as our other products. In our laboratory we calibrate flow sensors on numerous test stands fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. Our testing facilities are ranked among the most accurate references in measuring and control technology worldwide. The DAkkS accreditation of our calibration laboratory for flow velocity, flow rate, volume flow rate as well as mass flow of gases according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 rounds off our range of calibration services.

We can calibrate your instruments on the following test stands:

  • DAkkS accredited open jet Göttinger-type wind tunnel in the range 0.1 to 70 m/s with measurement uncertainty 0.5 % but not less than 0.01 m/s
  • DAkkS accredited atmospheric volume flow rate test facility with a calibration range from 5 to 5500 m³/h and a measurement uncertainty of 0.25 %. Mass flow rate of 6.0 to 6,600 kg/h can also be measured here.
  • High pressure volume flow test bench as a closed construction with a calibration range between 0.20 to
    4000 m³/h. Thanks to the design, pressure from 1000 to 10000 hPa as well as temperature, via a heat exchanger, in the range from 20 to 45 °C can be varied. The calibration medium is air, although other inert gases can be used. The measurement uncertainty is up to 0.5 %
  • Real gas test stand with a calibration range of 0.06 to 100 m³/h and a measurement uncertainty of 0.8 %. Besides air, we can calibrate in many other gases or gas mixtures such as argon, propane, hydrogen, natural gas, landfill gas, helium, butane, oxygen, all noble gases and non-aggressive gases 
  • Volume flow of liquids with a calibration range between 0.02 to 9 l/min (0.0012 to 0.5 m³/h) and a 1 % measurement uncertainty
  • Volume flow of water with a calibration range between 0.5 to 100 m³/h (flow velocity for water 0.02 to
    3.54 m/s) and a 0.55 % measurement uncertainty 
  • High temperature flow rate test bench up to 400 °C for velocities of 0.5 to 70 m/s with a measurement uncertainty of 2-3 %
  • Further test facilities for flow and temperature

We also extend our accredited and certified calibration services to flow measuring equipment from other manufacturers. We can also adjust non-Höntzsch instruments.

Each calibration comprises:

  • checking mechanical parameters

  • safety-related assessment of relevant ATEX/CSA properties
  • checking relevant electronic parameters to ensure error-free operation
  • necessary adjustments for achieving the smallest possible measurement uncertainty
  • minor repairs / maintenance

and includes a free performance guarantee for the next 12 months, regardless of the age of the sensors.
If a sensor fails, we carry out the necessary repairs without charge, except for parts subject to wear such as vane wheels or components, not included in the specifications.

DAkkS Calibration

In character with our standards of high quality, our calibration laboratory is DAkkS accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. A complete calibration service consisting of "as found" inspection, maintenance and adjustment with DAkkS calibration, previously known as DKD, can be carried out in our laboratory in one transaction. DAkkS accredited calibration does not only apply to all Höntzsch anemometers, but also to those of other manufacturers.

Höntzsch sets standards in measurement uncertainties!
The volume flow rate of gases in the range between 5 m³/h to 5500 m³/h can be DAkkS calibrated with the smallest of measurement uncertainties of up to 0.25 % and for flow velocities of gases in the range 0.1 to 70 m/s we can calibrate with a measurement uncertainty of just 0.5 % (see list).

Thanks to our high-precision differential pressure sensor, measurement uncertainties of less than 1 % can be realized for the calibration of Pitot-static tubes in our wind tunnel. We can calibrate your nozzles (venturi nozzles) and orifice plates to the highest accuracy on our test bench for atmospheric volume flow. With this high-precision calibration equipment we run one of the most precise laboratories worldwide! 

Additional DAkkS calibrations with the measured variables flow rate and mass flow rate of gases are also possible. The measuring ranges can be found in the list.  

What does DAkkS accreditation mean?
This accreditation of our calibration laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 is confirmation by the German Accreditation Body, that our calibrations are traceable to PTB (Federal Institute of Technical Physics) national standards and norms and ensures precision of the applied references. We guarantee that all our measuring instruments not within the scope of this accreditation are calibrated under the auspices of a certified quality assurance system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 using references which can be traced to national standards and norms.
 

DKD Calibration

DKD is a body of accredited calibration laboratories under the auspices of the Federal Institute of Technical Physics (PTB). Höntzsch is a full member of the German Calibration Service (DKD), Technical Committee 12. Flow Measured Variables. The principal objective of the DKD is the advancement of the calibration service in terms of dissemination of the unit, especially in regard to promotion of information exchange between members and creating calibration guidelines which represent the best available technology.

In order to secure worldwide uniformity of the calibration practice for our international customers, Höntzsch works closely with other national and international metrological institutions. The objective will be achieved through intensive exchange of research findings and comprehensive, international comparative measurements. In close cooperation with national and international accredited calibration laboratories, we are working consistently towards further development of calibration techniques and the reduction of measurement uncertainties.

Höntzsch also extends its accredited and certified calibration services to flow measuring equipment from other manufacturers.
